Blended Learning Strategy - October 2020

 

To minimise the impact of pupil absence from school as a result of Covid-19, Gossops Green Primary have established a clear strategy to ensure high quality learning will continue via online learning platforms. It is the clear expectation of Gossops Green Primary that children not attending school will complete work to a high standard online.

Learning will be facilitated via online tutorials incorporating videos of the teachers teaching over a PowerPoint. Work will be completed and submitted by pupils online with feedback and marking from staff received via the platform as well.

Pupils have been taught how to use and access their learning on either Seesaw (EYFS-Yr2) or Google Classrooms (Yr3-Yr6). The school have sought to identify which pupils do not have access to a laptop, PC or tablet – a phone is not an effective learning tool.

The following are the four main scenarios that may occur;

Scenario 1

Should a child be isolating awaiting a test result (for themselves or someone in their household), a pre-prepared pack of work for three days will be sent via the office.

Scenario 2

Should a child be isolating (due to a positive test in the household) or quarantining for fourteen days, learning will be assigned on either Seesaw (EYFS-Yr2) or Google Classrooms (Yr3-Yr6). A teacher from the year group will use Google Meet for a ten-minute video call each of the two weeks.

Scenario 3

Should a Year Group Bubble be isolating for fourteen days, learning will be assigned on either Seesaw (EYFS-Yr2) or Google Classrooms (Yr3-Yr6). Teachers will hold a ten-minute morning and afternoon registration on Google Meet for all pupils. Attendance at each registration is expected.

Scenario 4

Should the school be closed (to all but children of Key Workers and vulnerable children), all learning will be facilitated online – as in scenario 3

Google Classroom




Children in Years 2 – 6 have been given an individual Google Classroom login and will have completed lessons in school, teaching them to use the platform. Please click HERE for a PowerPoint presentation to help you access Google Classroom at home. 

TTR and Numbots


All children in the school will have a TimesTables Rockstars (KS2) or Numbots (EYFS and KS1) login, which allows them to access fun games and activities to support their recall of key number facts. Links to the webpage can be found by clicking the links above. 

My Maths





Maths homework is often set on the MyMaths website. Please click on the logo above to go to the website and enter your unique username and password.

Oxford Owl



Reception and Year 1 children will be given an Oxford Owl login, which will give them access to a treasure trove of stories to share. KS2 parents can also sign up themselves. Click on the logo above to access the website. 


Seesaw




Reception and Year 1 parents will be given a SeeSaw login. Here, you can access notices and activities set by your child’s teacher. Click on the logo above to be taken to the login page.
